Mr Barton was awarded the prestigious Institute for Public Works Engineering Australia Emerging Young Leader Award at the group’s conference in Perth last week.
He is currently the chair of Young IPWEA and was one of seven finalists from across the country.
Young IPWEA engage with the under 35 cohort of engineers around Australia and New Zealand and drive initiatives important to youth in the industry.
“Honoured would be an understatement,” Mr Barton said.
“It’s great to see the efforts of young engineers being recognised.”
Held in Perth August 20-23, this year’s IPWEA conference drew more than 500 delegates from Australia and New Zealand, in addition to 30 international delegates from 10 countries.
