JUNEE GEO Storm secured their 10th win for the season against Turvey Park on Saturday. Madi Harpley and Jess Barclay played well in centre whilst Jacinta Cooper and Brooke Harpley shot consistently. Josie Drum played a competitive game in defence alongside Elise Drum who were both supported by the wing-work of Lily Hodgson and Molly Hodgson. The girls won easily with a 75-12 win and are gearing up for a hard next three rounds against competitors near the top of the ladder.

The under 8 Jets played another fabulous game of netball on the weekend. Despite freezing conditions, their passing and catching was excellent. Every girl stepped up their defence and covered their players closely, causing panic-passes which provided the Jets with numerous opportunities to intercept the ball.
The Junee Licorice Factory player of the week was Holly Fitzhardinge. Despite being a head and shoulders smaller than the shooter, she played a brilliant game at goal keeper. Her tight marking left the opposition with no option but to attempt a high overhead pass, which isn’t often successful in the under 8 division.
Claire Rowett, Millie Drum and Clare Harris played great games with improved ability to read the play and get themselves into good positions to receive the ball. They followed this up with quality passes to move the ball further up the court. All three girls worked incredibly hard in defence.
Sophie Baldock, Charlotte Asmus and Addy Reberger worked hard in the centre court to provide a strong defence and an aggressive attack. Their ability to throw quality passes under pressure and then quickly move up the court to receive the pass back was integral to our more attacking play. Charlotte also scored our only goal.
The Under 12’s Junee GEO Jewels were defeated by Kooringal 54-12. The game was completely dominated by one of Kooringal’s players. The girls put together their most consistent passing performance all season, regularly moving the ball up the court into shooting position with impressive fluency, although unfortunately our shooting was not up to our usual standards.
Chloe Masters was the Junee Licorice Player of the Week. She has made fantastic progress with her skills in her first season of netball and continues to improve every week. Chloe played centre for most of the game and was a key part of the Jewels success in moving the ball up the court with her passing and movement into space.
The Under 14s GEO Gems faced another loss this week to Nixons. The girls started with a strong first quarter with Mia Phillips bringing speed to centrecourt and Trinity Johns and Ella Fitzgerald missing few goals. However the girls lost their momentum throughout the middle half of the game despite the efforts of Mykalah Parkhurst, Rory Rowett and Makeeta Jenkins in defence. Gems finished and improved last quarter with Lara Drum and Matilda McDevitt passing and defending well throughout the centrecourt but the girls couldn’t make up for their loss and were defeated 12-41.
