The Decor Gnome Challenge asks punters to purchase a terracotta gnome for $15, register it with Junee Rotary, paint and decorate it, and enter into a town-wide competition.
More than 140 gnomes have been sold already, a figure which Rotary’s Trish Davies said had “blown us of the water”.
“Everyone who has painted a gnome has had a lot of fun with it,” Mrs Davies said.
“There has been a lot of concentration going on with the gnomes and we’ve had people of all ages get involved.
“We’ve had people in their nineties right through to kinder kids.”
All gnomes will be displayed on the balcony of the Broadway Museum.
“The display itself will be a little fairly land with a pretend stream and little picket fences,” Mrs Davies said.
Winners will be announced across four categories: business, school, community and family.
The event is sponsored by the local Rotary Club.
