The half-time score was a 3-all result that came from some great work by Junee in attack, but three lapses in defence saw three simple goals scored.
Junee dominated the first half with 28 shots at goal that saw goals to Keely Hancock, Kara Hancock and Ash Goode, with the pick of the goals being from a sweeping passage of play that started 30 metres out from Junee’s goal on the town side of the pitch with Suz Waia. Quick passes across the backline to the far side and passes forward found Keely Hancock on the left wing take the ball to goal and score.
Half-time saw a refocus of the team and the second half saw the team hit the pitch running and seven goals hit the back of the net. Each of the goals were special in their own way but they all came from good team-work, smart passing, great talking and excellent finishing with 20 shots at goal returning seven goals, a hat-trick to Elisha Ward, two to Liv Howell, a second to Keely Hancock and one to Steph Puttock.
The second half was much better from the team with all the players lifting their efforts and playing smart passing football. In total the team put 48 shots in with a 70 per cent on target rate which is their best this season. Ball retention from throw ins was also high at 88 per cent which is also their best this season.
Best for Junee on the day was Elisha Ward, Suz Waia, Keely Hancock and Stephanie Puttock.
Junee will meet Henwood Park at Burns Park next Sunday at 11am and the girls are looking to reverse the result of their last match.
