The rejuvenated committee will see Councillor Martin Holmes take the reins as the committee works to become its own incorporated entity.
With the festival now operating as an independent group, Cr Holmes said the committee would move towards more of a co-ordination role.
They’ll work with the town’s major tourism attractions to promote their offerings to visitors as well the small businesses such as cafes, pubs and shops.
“We’re the glue that keeps the festival together, there's no need to be big brother," he said.
Cr Holmes said was there to be inclusive and would listen to venue operators, stakeholders and businesses.
“We want to see venues participate in the festival, we’ll bring the crowd in for them,” he said.
Cr Holmes will be joined by Karen Clemson as secretary, minute secretary Struan Timms, social media liaison Natalie Phillips, former chairman Neil Smith will lend his experience to the committee as deputy chairman.
The committee is still on the hunt for a treasurer.
Cr Holmes said the fellow councillor Smith was initially stepping down from the committee but was convinced to return as deputy.
He said the committee would act as a team to continue to build the festival.
