The Friends of the Athenium want you to save the date – July 25.

After hosting movie nights, art exhibitions, eucumenical church services, an orchestra, the Kapooka Army Band and a charity ball, the group have taken the next step.

Chairman George Benedyka said the committee were looking for a variety of uses for the refurbished building.

Mr Benedyka said the group had been talking about hosting a ball for a long time and it will be the first they have hosted since the completion first stage of refurbishment.

He said the group were hoping to recapture some of the magic of masquerade balls and Syndey band Soundwaves will play hits from years past.

While most masquerade balls are formal events, this year’s will be BYO nibbles and beverages.
