Adventure of Axl is a fundraiser program for Axl Lamb, son of Gavin and Lenora Lamb.
Axl was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and several Junee residents have banded together to create a trust fund so the one-year-old will be able to reach his potential.
A fundraising night will be held on February 16 and the special guest will be Andrew Hewitt.
Mr Hewitt, himself born with cerebral palsy learned to play the drums in 1980 despite having limited movement in his arms and legs and for the past 30 years has forged a career as a musician and motivational speaker.
“My rule is to not use the word ‘can’t’,” he said.
Hewitt said the key to reaching your potential was never giving up.
“If I can give even one person or family a little bit of hope, my job’s done,” he said.
Mr Hewitt is donating his time to the event ahead of his own trip to the US to learn about The Rhythmic Arts Project – a workshop which can be used to teach life skills through music as part of his mentoring program.
The fundraising night has been organised by Amanda Riley, Rebecca and Rick McDermott and Amanda Smith.
Mrs Riley said the night was a thank you to people of Junee who had supported the Adventure for Axl appeal and fundraising efforts.
With Axl growing up with cerebral palsy, Mrs McDermott said there would be ongoing medical costs including new wheelchairs and physical therapy and Adventure for Axl trust would help support the Lamb family.
There will be a raffle on the night including with up to $8000 worth of prizes for grabs - all donated by businesses from Junee and Wagga.
Signed jersey’s Parramatta Eels, Sydney Roosters Canberra Raiders NRL teams will be auctioned on the night.
In addition to a talk and performance by Andrew Hewitt, there would also be a DJ to entertain guests.
Tickets are available from Amanda Riley on 0411 462 893 or through the Adventure for Axl Facebook page.
