Relieving assistant principal Alex Sheridan said it was an exciting day for students and teachers alike.
“The RAAF contacted us and said this is something they could do for our school if we were interested, so we jumped at the chance,” Ms Sheridan said.
“The kids all got to go in the basket and pull on the burners, and the guys from the RAAF explained the science behind flight and the heat.”
While the wind was too strong for the hot air balloon to actually take off, Ms Sheridan said her students got a lot of hands on science experience and left school feeling very inspired.
“The teachers took the opportunity to run special science units of work, so they had lots of prior knowledge going in to the day,” she said.
“The children were wonderful, they had an absolute ball, they were so appreciative of the opportunity they had.”
