“On Saturday night, two businesses in Ganmain and two businesses in Coolamon were either broken into or attempts were made to gain entry into those premises,” Wagga Inspector Peter McLay said.
“There was also another break-in at the BP service station at Bekom. Police are treating these break-ins as related.”
Police say it appears in all cases, thieves either kicked the doors in, or “used some type of jimmy bar or tile leaver to gain entry”.
Regal Signs in Coolamon was also targeted and damaged by thieves attempting to get in.
Only small amounts of cash were stolen from some of the businesses, while stronger security measures surrounding entry points at other businesses managed to keep the would-be thieves out.
“We’re treating this as a bit of a random attack. The individuals responsible may have just been itinerant and just travelling through town at this stage. We’re still trying to identify those persons responsible,” Inspector McLay said.
