Both teams have been marked early as tournament heavyweights and were both looking to secure early bragging rights.
Junee also welcomed back some old names into their side with Joe Crowder, Murray Garlick and Stephen Turk playing their first game for the season.
Junee wanted to take full advantage of the homeground and, after winning the toss, captain Will McGrath elected to bat.
Junee stumbled early losing quick wickets of Stephen Turk and Trent Charlton. But a solid partnership from Darren O'Rafferty and Brad Diggins got Junee back on track before Diggins fell for 19.
O'Rafferty then fell for 29 just after drinks but some big hitting from Hayden Diggins and Joe Crowder in the middle stages got Junee to 131 before losing their last wicket. Best batters were O'Rafferty 29, Hayden Diggins 22, Crowder 19.
Junee then took to the field and knew they had to bowl and field well as Tumut Plains didn't lose a wicket in their first round match up.
Junee started slow in the field with a catch going down in the first over. Junee openers Charlton and Crowder tried to limit Tumut Plains scoring early but with nine runs coming from the sixth over, Junee had to tighten up.
Charlton then picked up the huge wicket of Blake Jones in the seventh over which seen a massive collapse in the Tumut Plains batting order. Junee then peaked taking five excellent catches.
Charlton bowled a ruthless spell which seen Tumut Plains bowled out for just 15 runs.
Crowder finished with figures of two for 10 off seven overs, and Charlton claiming his best ever figures of seven for five off seven overs.
Junee claimed a huge 116 run victory and once again stamped its authority in the Elders Cup competition. Junee will travel to Gundagai on the weekend to play against Tumut Colts.
