It’s a first time win for the school who impressed the judges to come out on top of 10 other schools from across the district.
Their dance addressed domestic violence and the flow on effects including poor mental health and self harm and supporting people to find the right avenues to help themselves.
“Statistics were presented in a drama performance, then they unpacked the life of a person experiencing domestic violence through a number of short dances pieces, highlighting the role of supportive friends, support networks and agencies,” principal Scott Frazier said.
The nine year 7-10 students were coached by teachers Miss Biggar and Mrs Bunyan and choreographed the work themselves over a term.
The Dramatic Minds Festival was first established in 2008 in Wagga and aims to engage young people in a creative way to explore the issues associated with youth mental health.
