The finishing touches are being put on a slick red WB 1980 Holden ute by students at the Junee Correctional Centre TAFE campus.

The ute, restored from scratch by motor, spray-painting and panel beating students over eight months, will be raffled off for Junee Can Assist.
“We want to try provide the inmates with skills that are meaningful and will transfer outside to better employability,” general manager Mr Scott Brideoake said.
“We wanted to give back to a Junee charity,” offender services manager Trevor Coles said.
“Most people including the inmates, know somebody or have had a family member affected by cancer.”
The ute will travel to Wagga Autobarn on Saturday morning to begin selling raffle tickets, before heading to the Henty Field Days where it can be seen at the TAFE stall.
Junee Can Assist hope to raise $50,000 from the project.
“We’ve have had some financial and committee troubles, but this will set up a good nest egg and keep us going for some time,” committee member Natalie Phillips said.
“It’s unique and has a really good story. It’s good for Junee to know that GEO and TAFE have come together to do this for the community.”
Junee Can Assist are now helping 68 local cancer patients with their bills and needs and raise roughly $30,000 a year through donations and fundraising.
