After rain washed out last year’s event, the weather was far from a concern for the Riverina Schoolboys Carnival on Saturday.

Around 130 teams of young footballers descended on Junee for the annual event.
While numbers were slightly down and rain during the week left the grounds damp, secretary Maree Allamby was pleased with the event.
“Everything went well,” Allamby said.
Ambassadors Roy Asotasi and Maddie Studdon also proved a hit with the children and even coached a game against each other.
The carnival wasn’t without a bit of drama with a dispute over who won the under 9 Black pennant.
It was initially given as a win by Redbend but after one of the scores had been written around the wrong way Gungahlin Red was named the winner.
