Charlotte Asmus moved well to get open in attack and smothering her player in defence. She created a number of opportunities as GA and scored our only goal. Millie Drum and Addy Reberger continued to snatch at any balls that bounced free. Claire Rowett tried hard to make the most of the opportunities in attack, but struggled against a stronger opposition. She did a great job moving towards the ball and worked to get in front.
The Under 10s Junee GEO Sapphires were defeated by the top team in their division, Kooringal White, 16-0. The Sapphires worked really hard in their defensive third but struggled to move the ball into their attacking circle.
Sophia Brady was player of the week. Sophia is having an excellent season, usually at centre. She constantly moves without the ball to provide a passing option and showed her flexibility this week at GD and GA. Kara Drum and Tarah Bouffler were tremendous at GK and GD, in the face of talented opposition. Jocie Corbett and Jorja Vergano lacked attacking opportunities but never stopped trying, while Zoe Green and Sophie Baldock were busy at WA and WD.
Under 12s Junee GEO Jewels were defeated by the Marian Tigers 23-0. Jewels struggled to consistently move the ball into attack against an opposition that was tall and athletic, but never stopped trying for all four quarters, even without any subs.
Zoe Fitzhardinge was player of the week. Zoe’s effort has been consistently fantastic and has impressed with her ability in a range of different positions. Charlotte Dendy led the way and was well supported by Chloe Masters and Ellie Baldock. Ali Corbett was also solid defensively and provided our best option in attack. Erica Wooden and Caidence Reberger worked hard to get the ball into good shooting positions.
Junee Gems greatly improved even though they were beaten by New Kids Blue 47-24. Mia Phillips stepped up to her first time shooting. Lara Drum, Tilley McDevitt and Rory Rowett were consistent with their transfer of the ball. Claire Herbert was tight in defence while Ella Fitzgerald and Trinity Johns lead well in the goal circle. Maykala Parkhurst also played a tight game.
Under 18s Storm faced a competitive game against New Kids Celtics, coming away with a win of 47-38. The girls had a tight first half, facing strong defense but Madison and Brooke Harpley failed to miss, keeping the girls ahead throughout. Jacinta Cooper, Jess Barclay and Josie Drum worked tirelessly in centrecourt, while Molly Hodgson, Sarah Stevens and Elise Drum worked together in defence.
