Robert and Jenny Barrett of PRDnationwide Junee were presented with the Douglas Hall of Fame Award for 2016 at a gala function on the weekend.
The award is handed out to those who have given outstanding and extensive service to the industry.
Local office principal Mr Barrett said the honour had come as a major surprise.
“It really did blow us away,” he said.
“Junee is a small town, a small market and we’re a small office, so to pick up an award like this which normally goes to the bigger players in the game is incredible.”
Mr Barrett said he and Mrs Barrett had made a conscious effort to support less experienced colleagues over their 23 year careers.
“We do try to give a little back to the industry and our group,” he said.
“I like to do that because of the amount of support I had in my early days in real estate.
“I was a green young fella back in the day and after all the support I received, I really try to give that time, energy and effort back.”
Mr and Mrs Barrett moved to Junee from Temora in 1976.
They opened Barrett’s Sports in the building which currently houses PRDnationwide, before eventually moving into the real estate business.
