The locals volunteered to work at the CWA tea rooms where the aroma of freshly baked scones, piping-hot tea, and the warmth the CWA ladies who serve the delicious treats with jam and cream are a show tradition not to be missed.
Whilst the Wallendbeen members were there, CWA received the gold Commercial Exhibitors Award for “catering outlet".
This year the ladies have set a new record for the most scones served in a day – 4988 scones were enjoyed on Monday and the new record of 50,000 in total was likely to be reached.
TOP NOTCH: Kae Anforth, Rowena Casey and Carol Vincent. Some 450 volunteers work at the tea room preparing scones from a secret CWA recipe.
