Councillor Kerri Walker and Sonia Nathan held an open meeting on Monday with the aim of re-establishing a local competition, and wasted no time in forming a committee.
Ms Nathan said the meeting was well attended and provided a positive sign for the future of the sport.
“We had a lot of people come along and say they’re willing to help out,” she said.
“Now it’s a case of figuring out which competitions we can offer and which nights we can play on.”
Ms Nathan opted against revealing the makeup of the committee, with some positions yet to be finalised.
Cr Walker was a member of the old Junee Basketball Association executive and helped establish the previous league in the mid 1980s.
