Needing to put some ends together, Junee did just that, winning the next six ends and reducing the margin to one shot, trailing 14-15 with two ends to play.
But that's where the scoring ended for the local side, with Rules winning the next two ends and the match 19-14.
Sean Smith’s quartet then got off to a good start, with a 7-5 lead after seven ends.
With both teams trading ends and Junee leading 11-8, Smith's quartet established the break they were searching, for scoring a 4 then a 3 on consecutive ends and were leading 19-8 with five ends to play.
The Rules Club fought back to reduce the deficit to four shots with one end to play, but Junee held on to win 20-15.
Junee struggled out of the gates in the final match of the round, dropping six shots on the second end.
But they rallied to lead 9-7 after seven ends.
They extended the lead to six shots by the 14th end and controlled the match to win 23 - 14.
