The Junee leader said he would likely share goalkeeping duties with his brother, Adrian Weir.
“I spoke with Adrian and we figured we could take the role on ourselves,” Weir said.
“It just makes more sense for us, rather than going out and recruiting someone.
“Adrian may end up doing the bulk of the keeping, but we might might just chop and change depending on how our bodies are going.
“Ideally we would have a regular goalie, just for a bit of consistency.”
The decision comes after confirmation that Rob Fry will continue to be eligible to suit up for Junee when matches do not clash with Wagga City Wanderers.
Fry made the move to Wanderers in the middle of last season with the support of Junee.
It is up to clubs with dual-registered players on their books to form an agreement with each other and Weir said he was pleased that he would continue to have occasional access to his best goalkeeper.

“When he has the chance to play or has the weekend off, he’ll play for us,” Weir said.
“It will obviously vary week to week.
“We probably won't get him a lot this year because Wanderers don’t have many weekends off.”
Fry had long assumed he would continue representing Junee during his weeks off and said he looked forward to helping out at the club he began playing with in 2004.
But the talented keeper stressed his availability would also come down to the amount of free time he has on weekends.
“Playing two games can just about take up your whole weekend,” he said.
“But I’d love to help out with Junee when I can,” Fry said.
“I was only able to double up and play for both sides a couple of times last season, but if they need me I’d certainly like to play.”
In the meantime, Junee will push on without the luxury of having Fry manning the goals on a weekly basis.
Lincoln Weir said he had confidence in his current playing group and could not wait for the season to start.
“I’m very excited,” he said.
“I have a really good group of boys underneath me.
“I think it has turned out to be a really good situation.”
