The three-year-old filly had been runner-up in eight of her first 13 starts for trainer Bill Young.
However, she was able to finally go one better in the Wayne Milgate Videos Three Year Old Pace (1760m).
“It was really good, I didn’t think she was ever going to do it,” Young said.
“She had been a bridesmaid for that long.”
It also was the Leeton trainer’s first win in around 30 years.
Young had stepped away from harness racing but decided to get back into the sport when he retired.
He bred and owns the daughter of For A Reason and has been enjoying the ride with her.
“She is a real good horse to work, we bred her ourselves so it was very good,” Young said.
Illinois Beauty was second in her first four starts before another second in her last two-year-old season.
She resumed with another three seconds in four starts this season before the $2.50 favourite went on to defeat Sophie Stening ($6) by seven metres.
The filly is entered to race on Junee Carnival Of Cups meeting on Thursday night.
Her win was the first leg of a double for Leeton reinsman Bill Trembath.
He also piloted another three-year-old filly, Corbie Abbey, to victory.
Coming off a third on debut, Corbie Abbey ($3.20) led all the way for Yanco trainer David Eurell.
She went on to defeat Wongalea Jatz ($2.30 fav) by 5.6 metres.
