The St Joseph's Catholic Church presbytery, which was opened in 1895, was put up for sale by the Catholic Diocese of Wagga this week.
The historic Kitchener Street building boasts five bedrooms, stained timber ceilings, original marble fireplaces and is situated on over 2,200 square metres of land.
“The sheer sizes of the home really stands out,” PRDnationwide Junee real estate agent Jason Barrett said.
“The grand nature of the building is staggering.
“It’s relatively untouched and quite original.”
Local historian David Walster said the building’s interior was as decorated as its history.
“It’s quite an elegant building,” he said.
“It originally had verandas around three sides of the building and they were built with decorative cast iron posts which were constructed at the foundry here in Junee.
“It also had two marble fireplaces inside, one in the sitting room and one in the dining room.”
The property is open for inspection from 11.30am to 12.00pm every Saturday until the auction at midday on February 28.
