ROLL up, roll up - the 128th Junee Show will be held on Saturday, October 22, starting from 9am and running until late.
All of your favourites sights, sounds and smells will be back at the Junee Showgrounds, in Park Lane.
The Lord Pavilion will again be the main attraction for most showgoers, showcasing all aspects of the annual country show, including displays of needlework, jams and preserves, wool, schoolwork, arts and crafts, photography, farm and vegetable exhibits, horticulture and CWA exhibits.
A display of work by students from Junee High School will again be a feature.
Many students from the high school will be assisting stewards with setting up for judging in the pavilion before the show opens.
The Ladies Lifestyle Pavilion will this year be held in the newly refurbished Belling Hall, with many and varied stalls including Scentsy, Avon, Tupperware, Enjo, jewellery, Lorraine Lea Linen and many others.
The show will be opened by the winner of the 2016 Sydney Royal Showgirl, Grace Eppelstun, from Grenfell.
Winners of the Junee Showgirl competition will be announced as well as the winners of the 200 Club draw.
Apart from the Junee Showgirl competition, there will also be categories for Miss and Master Tiny Tott, Miss Junior Showgirl, Miss Intermediate Showgirl, Miss Teenage Showgirl and a baby competition (a baby boy and girl will be chosen from the crowd).
Of course the ever-popular sideshow alley returns again this year with an array of rides, games of chance, food and showbags to purchase.
Dad and Dave’s Mechanical Bull will be bucking near the barbecue area. Try your luck and take a fun ride.
The barbecue and bar will be in operation throughout the day.
Don’t forget to see the dairy goats, sheep and poultry.
What’s new?
A new attraction this year's is a presentation by the ACT Re-enactment Group of the recruiting parties for World War I, when the Australian Imperial Forces in France were desperate for reinforcements.
Travel back 100 years and see people get recruited and trained as re-enforcements.
Another first this year was the window display competition. Many Junee businesses participated and the winners announced at the Junee Showgirl dinner last weekend (see next page).
Bonkers the Clown will make his second appearance at the show, having proved popular with the children last year.
Murphy’s Puppets will also provide several shows throughout the day to entertain both young and old.
Other free entertainment for children includes the animal nursery, pet show, and sand castle and mummy wrap competitions.
The Junee Motor Club will also have a display of current and vintage vehicles in a new location on the showground.
Musical entertainment on the day will include performances by the Junee Town Band, while popular Wagga band, Social Hand Grenade, will entertain the crowd a little later, from 5pm-9pm.
The evening will be rounded out by a spectacular fireworks display.
- The Junee Show Committee is grateful to the major sponsor of this year’s show, the Junee and District Co-Operative Society, operators of the SUPA IGA. The committee also expresses its gratitude to the many other local businesses sponsoring the show, particularly Cube Logistics and The GEO Group Australia Pty Ltd Junee.
