27 agricultural shows have been cancelled due to wet weather this year, but Junee is set to buck the trend and proceed with its full schedule of events on Saturday.
The show will go ahead “rain, hail or shine”, according to Junee Show Society president Peter Commens.
“Everything is under control,” Mr Commens said.
“The grounds are fine and we’re getting ready to go.
“It’s probably the biggest event in event in Junee and we’ve had a lot of support.
“It’s a great day out, you can bring the whole family along and it won’t cost much, unless of course you go crazy with the rides.”
Visitors are expected to converge on the event from all over the region and show society president Matt Austin said show cancellations elsewhere may attract a greater number to Junee.
“It was a real shame for the people of Illabo and those who lost their show, but I do feel there's a feeling of solidarity out there,” Mr Austin said.
“For people who might not have been able to have a show themselves, they might be looking to support one that has been able to go ahead.”
The show will feature a range of attractions, including ring events, a WWI reenactment, school displays, sideshows, fireworks and the unveiling of the Junee Showgirl winner.
Mr Austin said the ring events promised to be particularly popular and would bring people together with a common interests, as well as those who may not normally mix in day-to-day life.
“It’s especially good to have something like this during times that have been quite tough for a lot of small communities,” he said.
“Everyone gets the chance to relax, unwind and enjoy the whole day together.”
