- Jaguars men's coach Isaac Cooper on best and fairest winner Adrian Weir.
Men’s coach Isaac Cooper said Weir’s dedication spurred him to a award winning season.
“He was very committed all year and provided the experience the back line needed,” Cooper said.
“He came in as an experienced defender and lived up to that, he had an outstanding season. “
“He shut down a lot of good players through the season, and for me as both a coach and a keeper, that's vitally important.”
Cooper said Weir’s efforts were all the more impressive given his age.
Weir turned 40 a few weeks into the season.
“His commitment to his fitness is outstanding, he’s probably the fittest guy in our team,” Cooper said.
“His fitness really sets him apart from a lot of the guys in the competition.
“He ran rings around younger blokes all season, it’s almost embarrassing to see him outrunning 20-year-olds.”
Meanwhile, Elisha Ward took out the first grade women’s best and fairest.
Ward was a consistent force all season and slotted 27 goals throughout the year.

“Elisha is an exceptional talent,” women’s coach Craig Duncan said.
“She trained hard and was helpful and patient with her team-mates and worked well with her team on the park.”
