The classes, which are held locally twice a week, promote physical, social and mental wellbeing with an emphasis on benefiting senior citizens.
Classes are conducted by trained volunteer, Tracey Edwards, as a part of Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) physical activity initiative.
“The class is ideal for people who have always thought about getting involved in gentle exercise,” Ms Edwards said.
“It is mostly helpful to those who wish to improve their balance and flexibility in a friendly, social setting.”
Tai chi has long been shown to prevent falls that may result in injury, by significantly improving balance.
“This is a great chance for community members to take part in a low cost and fun exercise program offered locally,” MLHD Health Promotion Officer Jessica Poll said.
Hour-long classes are held weekly on Mondays at 8am and Tuesday at 10.45am at the Recreation Centre.
The cost of the program is a mere gold coin donation.
