The club’s grade six men’s side will play for Junee’s first ever state title after conquering the Wagga District and Zone 8 pennant competitions earlier this month.
Junee will face the top 16 clubs from across the state and will need to finish on top of its four-team pool to advance to semi finals.
The club is coming off a stellar regular season, finishing 9-1.
Junee has since continued its hot form, downing Rules Club to win the Wagga District pennant 72 -54.
Junee claimed a confidence boosting zone semis 80-40 win over Howlong in Howlong.
Junee trailed by 13 shots in the zone final against Young, before snatching the lead midway through the contest to claim an emphatic 79 – 48 title win.
Club stalwart Robert Minister says his side now has a rare opportunity at its fingertips.
“This is something that you’d be lucky to be involved in once in your life,” Minister said.
The club is expecting its state finals qualification to rally the town and draw a large crowd to the state finals.
“We’ll be playing with a lot of passion and pride on the weekend and I think we’ll be very competitive,” Minister said.
“We expect to make the final four at the very least.”
Junee men’s president and team manager Richard Thomas said his side is calm and collected heading into the state finals.
“We aren’t nervous at all,” Thomas said.
“We know all of Junee is behind us so we just want to do the town proud.”
The Zone 8 premiers have drawn Picton (Sydney West), Killara (Sydney North) and Kembla Heights (Illawarra) in section D.
The state finals begin on Saturday in Narrandera.
