It wasn’t quite the revenge the Jaguars were hoping for last weekend at Burns Park.

Junee’s premiers salvaged a 2-all draw in their game against South Wagga in physical match.
The Wagga team inflicted an early upset victory in round one, punishing the Jaguars 5-1. However, the draw on the weekend gave hope to coach Isaac Cooper after several close results.
“The team can deliver, we were down 2-1, we fought back to get it to 2-2,” Cooper said.
Returning from injury, Geoff Euhus scored the equalising goal for Junee. Captain Adrian Merrigan lead the way for the Jaguars when he scored the first goal.
“It’s a massive improvement,” Cooper said.
“Especially in those conditions, we were a lot more consistent but we struggled to keep possession.
“There’s more to come, there’s still more work to do but (the result) helps build the confidence in the team to deliver consistency.”
Cooper said goalkeeper Robert Fry put in a solid performance keeping the team in the game with several saves and Merrigan was impressive.
He highlighted Matt Carvosso who played a critical role in the team’s defence.
“(Carvosso) had his best game of the year, he stood up for us in the backline stopping the attack and turning it around,” Cooper said.
More importantly for Junee, the team recorded no injuries from the game, a big plus considering the team’s bid for improvement and wins has been hampered by injury. This weekend the Jaguars are scheduled to play the Northern Riverina Nomads.
Despite the Nomads dismal record against other sides in the competition, Cooper said Junee would approach the game like any other.
“We’re taking it like every other game, they’re desperate for a win, that desperation can be dangerous, they can’t be underestimated.”

Junior rugby league
Junee’s league tag under 14s delivered an incredible win last weekend. The girls were a little unsure to begin with after several changes to the game plan and structure but very quickly took advantage of the new ideas.
The team’s direction and movement were brilliant with players running hard fast. They showed their defensive prowess again keeping the opposition scoreless. At full-time Junee won 38-nil.

Under 10s junior Diesels went down to Cootamundra by just two points. The Bulldogs built a substantial lead and the Diesels pushed hard to chase it down, with each player giving their all until the final whistle.
The team’s attack was excellent but the intensity in defence caused some holes in defence. Cooper Wright and Jaxson Allen each scored two tries with Luke Moon scoring one. At full-time the score was 30-28.
