Citing wet weather and the need to prepare the turf for the football carnival, no horses are allowed inside the centre ring at the showground.
“Horse work is prohibited on the grass arena,” Junee Showground Trust chairman Martin Honner said.
He said with the recent wet weather, it was an ideal time to ensure the ground would be ready for contact sports.
Mr Honner said the ground needed to be in the best condition and said it was part of the trust’s duty of care towards users.
The ban on horse work is temporary and would be lifted after the carnival.
The 74th Riverina Schoolboys Carnival will begin on August 6.
