Pool life guard Cameron McFarlane took seven weeks leave to visit more than 40 schools around the state.
For the past four years, he has running a CPR awareness program in his home-town of Tamworth and last week brought it to Junee.
Year 5 and 6 students at St Joseph’s Primary and Junee Public schools were among the students to learn about CPR.
“I’ve had a really good response from children,” Mr McFarlane said.
He said rural and regional students didn’t often get the chance to learn about CPR, but it was just as important as dams, creeks and rivers could be as dangerous as the ocean or swimming pools.
Mr McFarlane said there was just two weeks left on his tour and schools had asked for him to come back.
“My ultimate goal is to have the program around the nation,” he said.
Mr McFarlane said he had been sponsored by the Coffs Harbour Royal Life Saving branch who provided equipment and hotels around the state where he spent the night.
