The forum follows a nationwide campaign to end domestic violence.
Recently released statistics have revealed an increase in domestic assaults in Junee.
But even one case of domestic violence is too many for Junee’s CWA members and they started planning a forum after hearing from several experts.
Susan Chamberlain is one of the organisers and said domestic violence was not just physical, it could be verbal, social or economic.
She said the forum would have answers for all aspects including legal, government initiatives and what services are available.
“Hopefully also the health side and preventative measures,” Mrs Chamberlain said.
The NSW Police, Sisters Housing Enterprises, and Domestic Violence NSW CEO will be among the presenters at the forum.
CWA member Barb Wignall said there had been many changes to how the issue was dealt with including police reporting the incident at the time.
“The statistics of domestic violence and Rosie Batty’s activism is what has driven us to organise the forum,” Mrs Wignall said.
While Junee’s CWA is organising and hosting the event at the Ex-Services Club, it’s designed to be for the whole community.
“Often people don’t know how to access the information or services,” Mrs Chamberlain said.
“We want this to be for our community, not just the town of Junee, but the district,” she said.
“A lot of the services don’t operate out of Junee but are available in Junee.”
The forum begins at 6pm on Thursday, June 9 at the Ex-Services Club.
