Junee had to work hard against a well drilled squad that were very quick and dangerous and played for keeps.
Junee’s first goal came off a well rehearsed corner with Nic Jordan sending the ball into the net giving Junee a 1-0 lead.
Junee’s lead only lasted three minutes when a Junee defender was judged as committing a foul in the penalty area and a penalty was awarded.
Goalkeeper Sara Smart saved the first shot, but couldn’t stop the rebound from being slotted home.
Five minutes later, Junee’s lead was restored with a strong free kick shot from Ash Goode found the back of the net.
The tempo of the game was good and suited Junee’s play and taking a 2-1 lead into the second half, Junee began to build pressure on the Cootamundra defence and Junee’s third goal came in the 68th minute with an error from a Cootamundra defender, deflected the ball into her own goal.
Suz Waia finished off the scoring with a scorching shot that gave the Cootamundra keeper no chance and took the score to 4-1.
Junee played well and they needed a good hit out before meeting Henwood Park next Sunday in what should be a cracker of a game.
Best for Junee on the day was Nic Jordan, Nic Tinnock, Billie Deacon and Teagan McCromack.
