Pressure on the team has been mounting after the Football Wagga premiers’ average season start.
They’ve recorded two losses so far, to South Wagga and Cootamundra, until last weekend, their only win had been against the Northern Riverina Nomads.
For coach Isaac Cooper, the outlook for the Jaguars is starting to change as the team copes with the exodus of experience.
“We played with much better structure and goals came from good work across the mid-field,” Cooper said.
“The win has given the team a bit of momentum, they’re happy with how they played.
“They’re starting to click and gel.”
Any momentum is important as the Jaguars look towards their next game in Young.
“There’s definitely been improvement from the previous weeks,” Cooper said.
“We’ll have to keep building over the next few weeks and games, we have a tough set of games coming up.”
The draw will have Junee heading to Young this weekend before returning to Wagga to play Henwood Park, Lake Albert and Tolland.
Cooper said the city teams were all looking to claim a win over the premiers in their own bid to stamp their authority as premiership contenders.
Against Tumut at the weekend, five Junee players scored a goal.
Nick Jones scored three, while Ethan Sainsbury, Lincoln Weir, Kurt Tinnock and Braiden Philipse scored a goal each.
“Our back four had their best game of the season, they kept Tumut’s chances to a minimum,” Cooper said.
“(Tumut) are competitive and they played the whole 90 minutes.”

Cooper said the several new players who had joined the team including the Lincoln brothers were beginning to bring results.
Another star for Junee on the weekend was Jay O’Mara.
O’Mara returned to the field for the Jaguars after spending 12 months on the sideline.
“He was impressive in his first game back, I’m expecting some big games over the next few weeks.”
