The Junee Correctional Centre is already famed for the creative painting pursuits and wooden toys made by inmates and now the the Wagga Purlers Knitting Group have been sharing the secrets of yarn.
“We get a great amount of satisfaction when imparting our skills - they are received with such keenness,” knitter Stephanie Vineburg said.
“To-date all who have tried their hand at knitting or crochet have succeeded - so that makes our day knowing we have in some small way shared and cared.”
Inmates are creating blankets for Junee’s aged hostel Cooinda Court before trying their hand at creating scarves and beanies for Wagga’s homeless.
