Junee held their third attempt at an annual general meeting on Wednesday night and were successful after Martin came forward to take on the president’s duty.

Martin will replace long-serving official Leo McCarthy, who has decided to retire after a decorated career in rugby league administration.

Amid a crisis surrounding the club’s future, the Diesels got their biggest attendance yet at the third meeting.

Martin is confident of a bright future for the Diesels.

“We made the grand final, we’ve got money in the bank, you can’t ask for much more than that,” Martin said.

“It’s a great launching pad to do even better.”

Martin was born, bred and married in Junee and moved back in 2011 to retire, where he served a brief stint as secretary of the club.

Now back as the new president, Martin has big plans for the club.

“I want to build relations inside and outside the football club, I see that as my number one priority,” he said.

“I want to promote the club within the community and try to get as much of the community involved as possible.”

Jacqui Daley and Pam Halliburton were reappointed as secretary and treasurer, while Alan Field and Rodney Hands have stepped into the vice-presidency.

Brodie Guthrie has been appointed reserve grade coach and Paul Sainsbury the under 16s.
