The storms which have just passed through Hay, are heading easterly towards Griffith, Leeton and Wagga.
Other towns in the Riverina likely to be affected include Coolamon, Junee, Narrandera, The Rock and Lockhart.
The BOM has residents should be wary of ‘destructive wind’ and large hail stones.
Wind gusts of up to 117 kilometres an hour were reported at Hay, at 2.31pm.
The State Emergency Service is warning locals to move their cars away from trees, putting away loose items around the home and staying away from windows.
The SES can be contacted on 132 500 for emergency help.
