Named after former first grader Peter Wilson, it’s awarded to those who best demonstrate his passion and commitment.
This year, two men shared the award – one of whom isn’t even a club member.
Nick Lehmann and Tim Post were presented with the award during the club’s presentation night.
Mr Post, who lives and works in Yass visited Junee for almost every home game.
“It’s been a hell of a ride … and I’m not even a member,” he said.
Describing himself just as someone who “helps out”, he was surprised to win.
“I helped out where I could, I just did what I could,” he said.
Working as a maintenance supervisor, Mr Post said he simply helped out where was needed, in the bar, the kitchen or on simple maintenance.
“With my background, I was able to help out, everyone brings something different to the club,” he said.
“I’m quite shocked to get the (award), there’s far more people who deserve the recognition than I do.
“I’d love to thank everyone for how they treated me, everyone has been so welcoming.
“I’ve met a lot of new friends.”
Meanwhile, Nick Lehmann is a member of the club and said he was honoured to be named as one of the club’s strongest supporters.
“There’s a fair few people who support the club which deserve the award,” he said.
During last weekend’s presentation night, the club presented a new award for first grade players.
Named after Luke Heffernan and donated by Michelle and Craig Harris, the ‘Last Try Luke’ award is for the players who have scored the most number of tries in a game.
“Heffernan scored the last try in the last game he played,” Diesels president Leo McCarthy said.
