At the branch’s latest meeting, they hosted guest speakers from Wagga’s Sisters Housing Inc to talk to the Junee members.
“Belinda McMahon and Ann Baker from Sisters Housing Inc spoke about domestic violence including major causes and issues and the impact on women and children,” secretary Gemma Marshall said.
“Their organisation can provide medium term accommodation and support services for women and children escaping the cycle of domestic violence,” Ms Marshall said
She said CWA members heard how Junee’s rate of domestic violence was higher than the state average.
The group then donated $1000 to support an outreach program for victims of domestic violence in the shire.
“Our branch will be holding a stall at the Junee Show in the Women’s Marque to further highlight this important issue.”
Junee CWA will hold their AGM on October 14.
