Canberra trainer Nick Olive is optimistic Waco Kid will handle the step up in class at Rosehill on Saturday, adamant the five-year-old is as best placed as possible to make his Sydney debut.

The gelding finished second to King Caleb first-up at Goulburn a fortnight ago, and will start around $30-1 in the benchmark 75 handicap over 1400 metres.
"His second-up run is the best run of his preparation and the horse is going super," Olive said.
"It's a step up in class so it's going to be a test for him, [but] we wanted to take him to Sydney and that was probably the only suitable race.
"His work during the week was really good and the owners want to have a crack up there with him while he's at his peak.
"The only query is it's a drying track. Hopefully it keeps drying and we get a half-decent track."
Meanwhile, Canberra partnership Barbara Joseph and Paul Jones secured a training double on Friday at Thoroughbred Park.
The duo won the benchmark 55 handicap over 1200m with $2.30 favourite Melberra Star, while rank outsider Overheard ($41) edged out Ruark ($3.60) n the Maiden Plate over 1300m.
In-form trainer Matthew Dale also clinched a double with short-priced favourite Bigburg ($1.60) in the class 2 handicap over 1000m, and Royal Amati ($3) in the benchmark 70 handicap over 2000m.
