Held during Legacy Week, it’s the only time of the year that Legatees call publicly for donations from the community.
It will finish with badge day on Friday, September 4.
“The Legacy stock drive is running through the week,” Junee chairman Chris Moloney said.
“We’ll drive around the district collecting stock donations.”
Mr Moloney said the Junee district had always been incredibly generous.
“We get terrific support from the shire, it all started following World War II by soldier settlers in the 1950s,” Mr Moloney said.
“We really appreciate the support we get from Junee and district, it amazes us every time.”
This week is when the volunteers do the bulk of their fundraising and Mr Moloney said it was an important cause to get behind.
The money raised by Junee Legacy supports war widows, sometimes being used for accessibility upgrades and taking the widows out for lunch.
“It supports all our widows of returned servicemen,” Mr Moloney said.
Mr Moloney said the Legatees called in with the district’s widows on a regular basis to check up on them.
“We support them with what we can.”
“People can donate stock any time they like, they can just ask their agent to take one out when they send lambs in,” Mr Moloney said.
