As part of the centenary commemorations, Junee Library has some donated boots and is looking to secure ex-servicemen’s boots to create an artistic tribute.

Librarian Kim Richards said residents could come into the library to paint one of the boots, a symbolic tribute as many of the donated boots from properties are similar to what the men wore.

“It’s a practical way to get involved aside from marching in the re-enactment,” Ms Richards said.

“We’re hoping to secure some ex-servicemen’s boots from Kapooka for school children to decorate,” she said.

Ms Richards said a pair of boots from the library would be sent to the Sydney commemorations of the Kangaroo March, along with the winning entries in a post card and diary competition.

She said the library was hoping to have colourful display when the Kangaroo March re-enactment arrived in Junee, on display throughout September.
