Your articles are giving people the wrong impression stating that a Westpac branch will be opening at Junee Post Office. This is not entirely correct.
Westpac has joined bank@post and as part of this facility will be available at every electronic post office Australia wide. We already have over 70 financial institutions available and we now have Westpac.
Westpac is operational right now at post offices. Therefore Westpac customers can conduct deposits, withdrawals and balance enquiries using their Westpac card at Junee Post Office. You must use your card at post offices. We already service people with National, Commonwealth, St George, Bendigo Bank, CUA and Encompass accounts to name a few.
We had notice from Australia Post weeks ago that Westpac was becoming part of bank@post but had no idea that the Westpac branch at IGA was closing until told by an IGA staff member.
We agree with the majority of the townspeople that losing this bank is detrimental to the town and wish to let people know that we, the post office, along with all privately owned post offices in Australia, are also under serious threat of closing. If it weren't for the loyalty of the many people who pay their bills and conduct other transactions at our post office, Junee would be in trouble right now like a large number of other post offices. Many towns have already lost their post office.
Our sincere thanks goes to those who use us and help us in our fight to remain. We love what we do, as do our wonderful girls Renee and Tracie, and we know we help many in the community who could not conduct their transactions without our help.
Westpac customers who come to Junee Post Office for withdrawals, deposits and balance enquiries can rest assured they will receive our efficient, friendly and helpful service.
