A handful of small mistakes left the door open for the Tigers to attack the homeside’s line.
“We got a fair bit of tackling practice,” coach Rod Hands said.
“We played some good football, but we made a few silly mistakes,” he said.
Fortunately the team’s defensive effort not only kept them in the game, but it allowed them to turn it around.
Hands said the mistakes made were easily fixed and were something as simple as holding a tackle down for too long – attracting a string of five penalties.
“They’re small things which can be rectified.”
The full-time score finished at 42-8 with Aidan Sweeney scoring four tries and Hands reckons he could easily have had another couple.
Conner McCauley and Tyler Sutherland also got across the line with Cameron Hands adding to the points hall with conversions.
Other players putting in an impressive effort were Maxie Burey in the halves, Tyler Sutherland in the middle and both Darcy Lemmich and Joe McNamara in the forward pack.
The win on Sunday follows solid numbers at training and Hands said the team could start working on its premiership hopes.
“We can definitely be there when the whips are cracking,” he said.
“If we knuckle down and get into it we can win a premiership.”
