Junee was very dominant despite starting slowly, something that they cannot afford to do in the future and were able to post four goals in the first half.
Junee’s attack was inspiring and caused the Cootamundra defence to be back peddling for much of the first half.
Goals to Olivia Howell, Ash Goode and two from Kara Hancock had Junee well in front at the half time break.
Off the ball movement was very good by the Junee players and with four subs getting a run on the day, the momentum was always with Junee and the pressure was always on the opposition.
The second half saw only one goal scored and a goal conceded but the effort and work the players put into the second 45 minutes was impressive with lots of good passing, support play and setting up of players for strikes on goal with only one converted by Kara Hancock, but there were plenty of opportunities that were on target and some that were just off.
It bodes well for this group and if they can get their aim spot on, there will be some high scoring games to come.
Sara Smart had a quiet day in goal and while it wasn’t all own way traffic, Junee’s defenders were very strong and with Teagan Foley, Steph Puttock, Chelsea McGregor, Laine Seary and Megan Puttock all playing well, the stopped most of the Cootamundra attack.
Abby Duncan, Abby Foley, Kara Hancock and Ash Goode were very strong in the midfield and controlled the game for Junee and along with the defence were instrumental in setting up many of the attacks made by the Junee strikers.
Olivia Howell, Morgan Goode, Jasmine Corbett, Keely Hancock and Taylah Hancock played great games and had the Cootamundra defenders under pressure for much of the match.
Player of the match award went to Kara Hancock with Ash Goode, Abby Foley and Steph Puttock all not far behind in what was a very strong team effort.
