Coach and goalkeeper Isaac Cooper wasn’t even troubled by Tumut during the game.
“I didn’t have to make a save, the only touches I got were back passes,” Cooper said.
Junee dominated from the outset quickly establishing control – Cooper said once they the Jaguars were in charge they were few challenges.
Martin Bushby, Lachlan Bushby and Adrian Merrigan all scored two goals each while Matt Ward, Ray Jones and Dean Scupin each scored one.
“We probably played our best game of the year, we strung passes together, took chances and created more,” he said.
Cooper said the score could have easily been in the double digits if Junee players had finished more of their opportunities.
“We had a few easy chances we could have finished, we have to capitalise on every chance, against Henwood Park we might only get one or two,” Cooper said.
While the win is Junee’s third in a row, they’ll be hampered with the loss of Chris Sweeney.
“We’ve lost Chris Sweeney for the season because of a shoulder injury,” Cooper said.
Cooper said Sweeney fell “awkwardly” when playing against Tumut and dislocated his shoulder.
The coach said the team would have to be rebuilt with a new player in mind as Sweeney was one of the team’s key defenders.
Cooper said finding a replacement shouldn’t be hard with the team’s depth with Steven Edwards the likely replacement.
“(Edwards) had a good game in reserves, he played a full game and half a game in firsts,” he said.
Cooper said wingers Adrian Merrigan and Martin Bushby were the team’s best players.
Jaguars reserve grade side also had a win against Tumut.
Cooper who filled in for one half in goals said Junee had a great first half, but faced a strong challenge in the second.
“They controlled the game well.”
They were still able to bring home a 3-nil win.
