For the Rhythm ‘n’ Rail Festival, the Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory is looking to turn an indulgence into a sport.
The chocolate challenge will be two teams with two people competing across three different events.
The chocolate pool, leaning tower of licorice and a rocky road will test the sweetest teeth.
Points and wins are awarded on the speed and skill of entrants.
The faster you can eat – the more likely you’ll win.
Rhiannon Druce from the Licorice Factory said member for Riverina Michael McCormack and his wife Catherine had set the standard so far.
The McCormack’s beat off a strong challenge of Junee Shire’s mayor Neil Smith and general manager James Davis, beating them 66 points to 39.
Ms Druce said it was all about having some fun and encouraged people to take up the challenge.
“Some of it’s based on what we do making the chocolate but it’s all a bit of fun,” she said.
On Friday a number of business houses will challenge each other before locals and visitors attending the festival enter over the weekend.
Plenty of chocolate awaits contestants and prizes will be given to the highest scoring teams on both days.
The competition won’t be the only attraction at the Junee Licorice Factory however.
Guided tours will be run for people while children will be able to enjoy an animal farm, horse and cart rides and will be able to burn off excess energy with a jumping castle and other amusements.
From 6pm on Saturday a finalist from The Voice, Holly Tapp will perform before Wagga band The Convict play.
