Jemima Hart, who was awarded the role of Junee’s agricultural ambassador at last year’s show, is progressing on to the zone final of the competition in Finley on Saturday.
This week she has been busy preparing herself for two intense question and answer sessions, which will help judges decide which girl will win her way through to Sydney’s Royal Easter Show.
“I have a luncheon at 12.30pm and then about two hours after that I go for an interview for 20 minutes where they ask a series of questions,” Miss Hart said.
“Then that night, we have a dinner and they call us up on the stage and we’ve got to answer a couple of questions.”
In preparation for the grilling, Miss Hart has been studying a wide variety of topics.
Judges ask general knowledge questions to test the Showgirls’ familiarity with agricultural, local, state and national issues.
To top it all off, the girls also have to be concentrating on their deportment.
“You’ve also got to make sure you’re sitting correctly and dressed appropriately at the same time as answering the questions.”
During the zone final, Miss Hart will be judged on personality, confidence, ambition, life goals, general knowledge, rural knowledge, presentation and speech.
The proud Junee girl has moved to Canberra since winning the Showgirl title, where she is undertaking a post graduate nursing program at Canberra Hospital.
