Two thousand years have come and gone, and earth is still not a place of peace.
Recent events in Sydney and Cairns so close to Christmas have made this painfully clear.
Did the coming of Jesus fail to achieve its purpose? Can we realistically hope for peace?
If you read the angel’s announcement in Luke 2.14 it says, “Peace on earth to everyone who pleases God (CEV Bible)”.
If your life is not pleasing to God, you can’t expect to enjoy his promise of peace.
How does a person please God?
I think if you asked ten different people you would get ten different answers.
Fortunately, God Himself has answered the question; “...it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him (Hebrews 11.6)”.
God doesn’t want you to get all religious.
He wants you to honestly seek him. God is not far away. The birth of Jesus proves the extraordinary lengths that He will go to reach out to us.
If you honestly reach out to God you will find Him. Not only that, but you will begin to experience the peace that the angels announced on that first Christmas night.
On behalf of the followers of Jesus in Junee, may you find peace in Him this Christmas.
