Instead of learning of the values of trigonometry or about Australia's place in the world, students were given some valuable tips about life after school.
"It's for them to access important life skills, things the curriculum doesn't necessarily cover," teacher Mel Hyland said.
One of the organisers of the welfare day, Ms Hyland said the school was broken into boys and girls - with each group hearing from a selection of visitors - including specialists from Riverina headspace and employment agencies.
"It's good for them to hear a different perspective," Ms Hyland said.
Building resilience, self-defence, teamwork, employment, health relationships and mental health were among the topics students learned about.
Ms Hyland - who co-ordinated the day along with teacher Paul Anderson said the focus was providing students with the tools to access help and advice, whether it be for a health issue or even finding a job.
