Racing Victoria might adopt the retention-barn model after officials from south of the border were at Menangle Park to watch the Miracle Mile runners enter the facility this week.

"The compliance team [from Victoria] came up and had a look at what we do and how it works," Harness Racing NSW chief integrity officer Reid Sanders said.
"I don't know what they are thinking but they have seen it now and they can make their minds up if it is something they can use in thoroughbred racing."
Racing NSW had already inspected the retention facility.
The retention barn had been used to house group 1 fields for the past year and horses that had been pushing the TCO₂ threshold.
"It is in our rules, we can require any horse to enter the retention barn before a race and we are going to be using it more often in the next year," Sanders said. "We have a couple of races at Penrith in January where horses will be required to spend time in the retention barn."
Meanwhile, a long list of group and sub one minute, 52 seconds winners from previous editions augurs well for next week's Garrards two-year-old Trialling Sale.
Featuring 47 pacers and, for the first time, three trotting youngsters, it starts at 8.30am at Menangle on December 7.
Previous graduates include Big Spending Telf, Morior Invictus, Iam Mr Brightside, Zenable and My Mate Stride, so the bar has been raised for quality youngsters to trial individually before being offered for sale in the afternoon.
The sale includes the progeny of numerous world-class sires, headed by Bettor's Delight and including American Ideal, Courage Under Fire, Mach Three, Rocknroll Hanover, Rock N Roll Heaven and Sportswriter. The dam of one of the two-year-olds had paced 1:50.6.
