Information on how to enter and prize information forms part of the terms of entry. Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
Entry is open to all residents of Australia, who are 16 years or older. However, employees and their immediate families of Fairfax Media Publications Pty Limited, Singapore Airlines and SIA Holidays and Sheraton and their associated agencies and related companies (including Fairfax Media companies) are not eligible to enter.
The promotion is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winner. Its purpose is to encourage amateur travel photography.
The promotion commences on 22 November 2014 at 00:01 (AEDT) and concludes on 22 May 2015 at 23:59 (AEDT) (the promotional period)
To enter, individuals (entrants) must send images of a special moment from their travels taken within the last two years (at least 1MB and 300 dpi in JPEG form). To help in the judging of their images, entrants must also tell us in 100 words or less where and when the image was taken and what made it so memorable for them. As well as these images and words, entrants must provide their personal details including (but not limited to) full name, address, email and a daytime contact telephone number (entry).
Illegible, incomprehensible and incomplete entries will be deemed invalid.
Entries should be emailed to bigpicture@fairfaxmedia.com.au. Receipt will not be acknowledged.
The maximum number of entries per week from any one entrant is two.
Only amateur photographers can enter this competition. Amateur photographer is defined as any photographer who earns less than $2000 a year from the sale of photographs in any medium or photographic services eg tutoring for a fee. Fairfax reserves the right to seek a statutory declaration from entrants about their income.
A limited amount of image post-processing is allowed, but images having excessive 'manipulation' (in the opinion of the judges, and at the judges' sole discretion) may be scored down.
Computer generated images will not be accepted.
Images that have won in any prior Fairfax Travel Photo competitions are not permitted.
All images must have been their own original work and have been taken by the entrant in the two years prior to entry.
All entries must not infringe upon the legal rights, including copyrights, trademarks, contract rights, or any other intellectual property rights of any other person or entity. By submitting an entry all entrants acknowledge and agree that the Promoter, its related companies and its sublicensees may, without compensation, use, reproduce and publish any entry (including images and words submitted as part of the entry) for the purposes of this promotion and any future promotional advertising, marketing and/or publicity activities for similar promotions.
JUDGING
Each week during the promotional period Fairfax Media will select from valid entries the best image, based on the creative merit of the images as judged by its editorial staff, and this image will be published in Traveller. Fairfax Media will also regularly run galleries online at traveller.com.au of other images it has selected from entries as the best images.
One of the valid entries chosen from all those images selected in accordance with clause 15 will be selected by a panel of judges including professional travel photographers and Fairfax Picture Editors as the winner. The selection of the winner will take place between 23 to 29 May 2015 at Fairfax Media Publications Pty Limited, 1 Darling Island Road, Pyrmont NSW 2009 AND Fairfax Media L2, Media House, 655 Collins Street, Docklands VIC 3008.
The winner will be notified within 7 days of the selection of their entry of their prize by phone and email using the contact details they provided.
The prize will be awarded to the person named in the entry. However, in a dispute, it will be awarded to the account holder of the entry mechanism used to submit their entry.
The Promoter's selection of the winner and any aspect of this promotion is final and binding on all entrants and no correspondence will be entered into. Any failure by the Promoter to enforces any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
Details of the winner will be published in The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age newspapers on Saturday 12 June 2015.
The Promoter reserves the right to request the winner to provide proof of identity, proof of residency at the nominated prize delivery address and/or proof of entry validity in order to claim a prize. Proof of identification, residency and entry considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the Promoter. In the event that a winner cannot provide suitable proof, the winner will forfeit the prize in whole and no substitute will be offered.
The Promoter reserves the right to verify at any time the validity of entries and to reject or disqualify any entry which, in the opinion of Promoter, is incomplete or indecipherable or includes objectionable content, profanity, potentially insulting, inflammatory or defamatory statements or breaches any other person or entity's legal rights. The Promoter may also disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process, who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms & Conditions of Entry or who has, in the opinion of Promoter, engaged in conduct in entering the Promotion which is fraudulent, misleading, deceptive or generally damaging to the goodwill or reputation of the promotion and/or Promoter. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify a winner if the Promoter becomes aware that the winner and/or the winner's entry is of a type described in this clause.
Entries must be received by 23:59 (AEDT) by 22 May 2015. The time of entry will in each case be the time the entry is received by the Promoter. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any late, lost or misdirected entries not received by the Promoter or delays in the delivery due to technical disruptions, network congestion or for any other reason.
Any entry that is made on behalf of an entrant by a third party or by an organisation will be invalid.
PRIZE
The prize must be redeemed by 31 October 2015. Exact travel dates to be determined by Singapore Airlines and SIA Holidays. The prize may not be redeemed on the following dates

The winner will receive the following prize valued at up to $16,000:
Two return economy return flights on Singapore Airlines from Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne to the Maldives to be used by the winner and a person of their choice
SIA Holidays: 5 nights twin share on half board basis including speedboat transfers at the Sheraton Maldives
The work produced on this trip will be published in a subsequent issue of Traveller.

REGARDING THE PRIZE
Travel must be on Singapore Airlines-operated flights only
Flights and accommodation must be fully utilised by 31 October 2015.
Flights are subject to availability and confirmation and are limited to non-peak periods. Any unused portion of the ticket after the expiry date shall be deemed null and void .
If the winner is not from Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne they will be responsible for the cost of an airfare to one of these three gateways. Singapore Airlines will pay all airline ticket related taxes associated with the prize.
The tickets are strictly non-transferable, not redeemable for cash, and will not attract Frequent Flyer Points nor will it be eligible for upgrades using Frequent Flyer Points and/or cash payment.
Flights for both prize tickets must be taken together and cannot be used separately
Flight reservations should be made at least two months prior to departure.
Rooms are subject to availability and advance booking is required.
All other costs, fees, taxes and charges associated with the prize are the responsibility of the winner. The winner is responsible for all non-airline ticket related airport or other taxes or government surcharges involved, travel costs to and from the point of departure, accommodation and meals which falls outside of the stipulated prize package, spending money, travel insurance, freight, excess baggage, meals, ground transportation, passport/entry visas and any other expenses. Travel insurance is highly recommended to protect against the additional costs incurred in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
A credit card imprint or cash deposit may be required from the winner at check-in to the resort, for all incidental charges.
It is the personal responsibility of those travelling to ensure that they have valid documentation, including but not limited to valid passports (minimum 6 months validity) and visas, which meet the requirements of immigration and other government authorities at the destination. Any fines, penalties, payments or expenditures incurred as a result of such documents not meeting the requirements of those authorities will be the sole responsibility of the travellers.
The Promoter makes no representation as to the safety, standards or conditions that may exist or be experience at any destination. International travel advice can be obtained from various sources, including government, local consular offices and the web site of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The prize cannot be transferred and cannot be redeemed for cash. No responsibility is accepted for any variation in the value of the prize.
If the prize is unavailable, for whatever reason, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize for a prize of equal or greater value.
The Promoter reserves the right to refuse to allow a winner to take part in any or all aspects of the prize, if the promoter determines, in their absolute discretion, that a winner is not in the mental or physical condition necessary to be able to safely participate in the prize. It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner may be required to sign a legal release in a form determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.
By accepting the prize, the winner agrees to participate in and co-operate as required with all reasonable media editorial requests relating to the prize, including but not limited to, being interviewed and photographed, filmed throughout the duration of the prize.
In consideration for the Promoter awarding the prize to the winner, the winner hereby irrevocably assigns to the Promoter all right, title and interest in and to all copyright and other intellectual property rights in any material created pursuant to the winner's participation in any aspect of the prize (Works). The winner acknowledges that the Promoter is free to use the Works and to exercise its rights in relation to the Works unencumbered and the winner will not be entitled to any fee for such use.
In consideration for the Promoter awarding the prize to the winner, the winner hereby permits the winner's image and/or voice, as recorded, photographed or filmed during the winner's participation in the prize to appear in connection with Fairfax Media or the advertising or marketing thereof, in any media whatsoever throughout the world and the winner will not be entitled to any fee or other compensation for such use.
If for any reason whatsoever a winner does not take an element of the prize at the time stipulated by the Promoter then that element of the prize will be forfeited by the winner and cash will not be awarded in lieu of that element of the prize.
Prize values are based upon the recommended retail prices at the time of printing (inclusive of GST). The promoter accepts no responsibility for change in prize value between now and the ultimate prize redemption date.
Should an entrant's contact details change during the promotional period, it is the entrant's responsibility to notify the Promoter. A request to access or modify any information provided in an entry should be directed to the Promoter using the same email address.
If the prize is not claimed within one month after the end of the period for prize notification, an unclaimed prize selection will take place at Fairfax Media Publications Pty Limited, 1 Darling Island Road, Pyrmont NSW 2009 on 3 July 2015 at 12:00 (AEST). The alternate winner will be notified within 7 days of the prize in writing.
It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner must comply with all the conditions of use of the prize and the prize supplier's requirements.
It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner may be required to sign a legal release in a form determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.
In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or significantly hinders the Promoter's ability to proceed with the promotion on the dates and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism, the Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the competition and recommence it from the start on the same terms and conditions.
The Promoter and any agencies or companies associated with the promotion and their officers, employees and agents, shall not be liable (including in negligence) for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with or arising out of the promotion and any prize except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law. The Promoter is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, either caused by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in this promotion, or for any technical error, or any combination thereof that may occur in the course of the administration of this promotion including any omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line or satellite network failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration of entries.
The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any entrant or other individual who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these terms and conditions, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the promotion. The Promoter's legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such individuals are reserved.
Fairfax Media Publications Pty Limited, Singapore Airways and their associated agencies and related companies assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of entries, and reserves the right to take any action that may be available as a result of such actions.
If for any reason this promotion is not capable of running as planned, including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any causes beyond the control of the Promoter, which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, take any action that may be available, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the promotion.
All entries become the property of the Promoter.
Privacy: The Promoter collects and holds personal information of about entrants and any other individuals whose personal information is included in an entry to conduct the promotion and to enable them to participate in this promotion. Entrants agree they have informed any other person whose information they include in their entries (such as images) of these terms and conditions and this clause in particular. If entrants do not wish their personal information to be used and disclosed for this purpose they cannot participate in the promotion. Personal information collected by the Promoter will otherwise be used and disclosed in accordance with the privacy policy of Fairfax Media which is available here and whose terms form part of these terms and conditions. The privacy policy explains how to request access to and correction of personal information, how to make a complaint and how complaints are handled and any overseas disclosures of the personal information the Promoter collects.
